Robert began practising Yoga in Cambridge in1999, after suffering from back ache due to his work as a landscape gardener.
His first teacher was Janet Tournier Downs, who was one of B.K.S. Iyengar's early students in the UK. She encouraged him to do his teacher training under the senior Iyengar teacher and moderator, Sasha Perryman. He completed his Introductory Level 1 and 2 training in 2005, becoming a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor, and in 2016, completed his Intermediate Junior Level 1 certificate. Sasha continues to be his regular teacher and mentor.
He has also furthered his studies by multiple visits to India to learn under the the esteemed guidance of Mr and Mrs Chanchani at the Yog-Ganga Centre for Yoga Studies in Dehradun, and by regularly attending professional development days and workshops to enhance and further his knowledge of yoga.
Robert gains great satisfaction, from teaching his students, especially when he can see the change and progression as they learn.
Robert is a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor approved by the Iyengar Association (UK)
