Through a regular Yoga practice you can bring, flexibility of both the body and the mind. You will see improvements in your balance, strength, concentration and in turn greater self-confidence and a sense of mental calmness, which will all help to alleviate the many stresses, strains, aches and pains of our daily lives.
Iyengar Yoga is a form of Hatha yoga named after and developed by B.K.S. Iyengar (1918 - 2014), who began studying yoga from the age of fifteeen under his guru Tirumalai Krishnamacharya.
B.K.S. Iyengar, or Guruji as his students called him, began his teaching in 1936 at the age of 18 and moved to Pune where he set up the Ramamani Yoga Institute..
His style of Yoga has a strong emphasis on alignment and precision within all of the postures and uses props, such as small blocks, straps, blankets and chairs, to assist the students when necessary, making it accessible to a larger group of people of different ages and abilities.
His children Geeta, Prashant and granddaughter Abhijata have followed in his footsteps and continue to pass on his great knowledge of yoga.
